Library time

Every Friday we go to our school library. Mrs Holland is in the library to help return and issue the books. We are learning about fiction and non-fiction books. We get to read books in the library and choose 2 books we want to take home to share.

Samoan Patterns

We have been learning how to draw Samoan patterns. We practise on the paper, following the directions in the book.
We use brown, black, yellow and orange crayons to colour our designs in.

We can't wait until we have learned enough patterns to make a whole panel.

Daffodil Day

Today we went out into the playground after play to add our money to the coin trail. When we put our money onto the daffodil that was on the ground we got to get our own daffodil to wear. Then Miss Sydow gave us a piece of chalk and we drew a daffodil on the concrete. We had lots of fun drawing our own flowers.

Court Theatre perform at our school.

On Wednesday the Court theatre came to our school to perform the 'Antarctica Adventure' show. Some penguins were leaving because there was no fish. The only reason was the fish eat the krill and the penguins eat the fish and the whale eats the penguin. There was a pirate - Captain Toothless. He had a sword and when the penguin bit him on the back he threw it up in the air and the penguin caught it. The pirate was trying to make the lady walk the plank.  The man gave the lady a snail thing that glows so he could find her easily. When the penguin came out of his home his mum and dad went out find food. The baby penguin was crying and some people found him and looked after him. They gave him some sardines so the baby penguin kept following them.
We enjoyed the show.

ERO visit our School

We had two special visitors in our school.

On Monday we had a Mihi Whakatau to meet them. Ms Heath greeted them in Maori and we sang some waiata for them.

They came to visit us in our classroom. We shared our work and talked to them about our learning.

Jump Jam

We have been learning dance moves with the Jump Jam programme.

We go to the hall on Wednesdays and Thursdays to practise our moves with the Minnows team. We also practise in our classroom because we can follow the DVD on the interactive whiteboard.
We know the following dances:-

Candyman
Keep on Movin'
Who let the dogs out.
